Before I define professional selling. Let’s look at some of the related professions. Below are some definitions of professions/occupations that relate to professional selling from Wikipedia:

Marketing is defined as an ongoing process of planning and executing the marketing mix (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) for products, services or ideas to create exchange between individuals and organizations
Advertising is defined as a form of communication that typically attempts to persuade potential customers to purchase or to consume more of a particular brand of product or service.
Public relations is defined as the practice of managing the flow of information between an organization and its audiences.
Sales Promotions is defined as the pre-determined actions designed to increase consumer demand, stimulate market demand or improve product availability for a limited time (i.e., contests, point of purchase displays, rebates, free travel, and sales incentives.)

Site Promotion

What about the sales profession?

Notice in the above definitions, the profession is *not* defined as the individual. For example, marketing isn’t defined as “people who market.” Yet, the sales profession is often explained as “individuals who sell.” Therefore, selling shouldn’t be defined in this manner. Notice also, that the above professions are *not* defined by the activities of those individuals. In other words, the profession of advertising isn’t defined as “placing ads on television.” Therefore, selling shouldn’t be defined in this manner.

Academically, selling is thought of as a part of marketing, however, the two disciplines are completely different. Sales departments often form a separate grouping in a corporate structure, employing individuals who specialize in sale specific roles. While the sales process refers to a systematic process of repetitive and measurable milestones, the definition of the sales “profession” doesn’t exist (until now with this article).

So the questions become:

Who is “in” the profession and who is not?
How does selling relate to marketing, advertising, promotions, and public relations?
What shared competencies do individuals within the sales profession need?
How do these competencies align to roles in terms of focus and differentiation?

A definition should provide a meaning. To determine the meaning of the sale profession, it is useful to determine what the sales profession *must* contain.

The following three tenets are required for professional selling:

The focus of the sales profession centers on the human agents involved in the exchange between buyer and seller
Effective selling requires a systems approach, at minimum involving roles that sell, enable selling, and develop sales capabilities
A specific set of sales skills and knowledge are required to facilitate the exchange of value between buyers and sellers

Within these three tenets the following definition of profession selling is offered by the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD):

Professional Selling is:

”The holistic business system required to effectively develop, manage, enable, and execute a mutually beneficial, interpersonal exchange of goods and/or services for equitable value.”

Note: this definition was published by ASTD in 2009.

What does this definition accomplish?

First, it creates a definition of world class selling. An organization wishing to benchmark its selling effectiveness can leverage the above definition to clearly understand strengths and weaknesses. Without such a definition, most adjustments to the selling team are arbitrary and subjective. By understanding the system’s view required for selling effectiveness, organizations can look at indidual sales team members as well as sales team processes and tools and how they align to the buyer.

Second, it allows for more consistent results in performance through the clear establishment of roles regarding who is “in” and who is “out” of professional selling. For example, if it doesn’t involve a human agent, it is not within the sales profession — it’s a marketing function with a transaction (i.e., a “sale”). For this definition, sales operations, sales recruiters, and sales trainers are “in” the profession because they possess unique skills outside of their regular job titles. They posses knowledge and skill that is unique to enabling the definition.

Third, the definition lays the foundation for sales talent management/people strategies. With such a definition, sales development employees can create learning solutions that fit the unique aspects of a sales culture. At the same time, front-end recruitment strategies and more clearly tie to retention strategies.

Fourth, it helps organization on exemplary performance. By setting a bar with such a definition, organizations don’t have to settle for mediocre sales effectiveness. They can use the definition to help bridge the gap between sales capacity and sales team competency.

The Definition of Sales – Professional Selling Defined

Internet marketing is not as old as the internet. It appeared long after and at the beginning it was, just like the internet, a luxury pertaining to the rich and famous. Because it has proved to be such a wonderful communication device, the internet has developed into what it is now: the world’s most popular communicating system. Numbers in which concerns the internet have constantly changed.

In December 1995 just 0.4% of the world’s population was using the internet, that is, 16 millions of internet users. In December 2009 the numbers were at 26.6% of world’s population, meaning 1,802 millions of internet users. We don’t have the 2010 numbers yet but experts think that the percentage has grown with at least one unit. Imagine that out of these 1,802 millions of internet users more than half have tried Internet marketing.

Internet Marketing

Isn’t this amazing? Internet marketing started with a few young rich men who saw it as a means of entertainment and had no interest whether they will lose their money or not and it has achieved such a number of customers that it contains more zeroes than internet marketers could have ever imagined.

The number of internet marketers changed also.

We now have thousands of them and it all began with a few. Even more thousands think about the possibility of starting such internet marketing businesses because it is obvious that they have high chances of being profitable. If you think about starting an online business my advice is not to wait any longer. You can regret it later for not taking the opportunity into your hands.

Things have changed into the structure of the system. We now have several types of internet marketing. For instance, the newest type of internet marketing is the multicultural one, which means that a website doesn’t contain only information written in English, but other languages too. Another trend in internet marketing is the video marketing, which sustained the implementation of videos describing the items.

It has been useful, because one of the impediments that stand between the buyers and the items is the lack of possibility of touching the items. Affiliate marketing is a very special type of online marketing; an affiliate marketing company helps an internet marketing one. The help comes in advertising and traffic rate increase. The relationship between the two has been described as being semi parasitic. It is said that they can’t live without each other.

Changes have interfered in the types of strategies also. As you have read above, there is no part of Internet marketing that hasn’t suffered a change. New marketing strategies involve the appearance of special offers which are used to beat competition. The special offers can be daily, weekly or monthly and it is highly recommended to take advantage of them You would be surprised what prices you can get for certain items.

There are domains in which change hasn’t brought improvement; Internet marketing is not one of them so you should overcome your fears and try it if you haven’t done it yet.

  Changes in Internet Marketing

Dave has been in the internet marketing business for almost 5 years now, 3 of those years being full time from the comfort of his own home. If you would like to learn about the company that taught Dave this business from the ground up, you may want to check out The Wealthy Affiliates.
Long before modern linguistic developments like standardized verbal enunciations and written alphabets, folks have devised means to get their points across to others. Even primitive peoples employed grunts and various hand signals to get their points across to others.

For many various valid reasons, communication has long been viewed as valuable assessment tools for basic values and norms of specific cultures. Prepare for crystal clear reception of some intense introspection into the awesome advantages of communication degrees online. Class has officially commenced.

Communications

Original origins of contemporary concepts

Contemporary college courses in Communications are born of ancient Greek and Latin studies of rhetoric and language. This age-old research reveals no new surprises: communications is a dynamic tool for overall societal benefit.

In modern times, voluminous content can be converted into minute megabytes and sped to intended recipients at rates of speed incomprehensible just a generation ago. In today’s high-tech business arena, communications study imparts valuable skill in constructing convincingly persuasive presentations of any perspective.

A pervasive commodity

Communications is the vital current underpinning the entire American economy. A whopping 50 percent of all US workers are employed directly or indirectly by this dynamic industry. The medical and public relations sectors are especially dependent upon communications functions.

Desirable personal attributes

High levels of certain personal aptitudes make communications especially attractive to many. You are especially well-suited for this career if you have:
A natural urge to comprehend and reproduce visual and audio input into usable formats;
Exceptionally strong skills in writing and verbalizing various viewpoints;
An attitude of concerned helpfulness; aspirations for educating and advising others; and, a constant curiosity about current events in your external environment.

Communications coursework content

Students opting to major in Communications receive instruction very similar to those who study advertising, public relations, marketing, journalism, or business management. A major advantage awaiting those who complete communication degrees online is extreme vocational versatility.

Communications career options

Communications majors may ultimately find themselves employed in Human Resources, publication, advertising, research and development, training, or marketing departments. Independent consulting or freelance work is also a popular choice, especially for governmental contractors, educational institutions, or labor unions.

In today’s complex business environment of technological advances which occur on a literally constant basis, communications experts are in high demand in every segment of business and industry. Some examples of specific job titles include:

Technical writer – these purveyors of the written word employ a combination of general communications skill and industry-specific instruction to construct effective presentations of the terminology and processes of their chosen fields.

Publicist – these creative communicators convert scandalous sensationalism into positive commentary. Publicists may generate media attention for their clients or excite public sentiment about certain issues or upcoming media events.

Public information officer -invariably employed in governmental settings, these public servants compile, analyze, and organize raw data into presentable forms for press conferences or publication in major print media.

Public relations specialist – focuses on cultivating or maintaining a positive media presence or favorable public image for individuals or organizations.

Director of communications – work in tandem with executive directors of non-profit organizations to further the internal agendas and organizational objectives. Much like a public information officer, these people disperse information. Their primary focus, however, is generating public involvement in organizational activities.

Degrees available at any level desired

An Associate in Applied Science with a Communications Arts emphasis is excellent for those just beginning their occupational odysseys. If you have moved beyond this learning level, bachelor’s communication degrees online afford the adaptability of either interdisciplinary instruction or a stand-alone field of study.

Students selecting the latter option may specialize in subjects such as speech communication, journalism, or business communication. Technical communications sub-specialties are also offered that feature study of communicating via visual, digital, or audio platforms.

Those who have reached the master’s level examine such matters as intercultural and interpersonal communication, leadership, business acumen, organizational management, or technological expertise. State-of-the-art applications such as organizational communication within innovative media formats or e-business are thoroughly explored.

In summary, communications will remain an ever-expanding source of satisfying career options for the foreseeable future. Few fields encompass as many disciplines and offer such vast versatility and adaptability as Communications. If you meet the criteria covered in this class, get started on your career commencement today. One thing’s for sure: when confronted with any compromising situation after graduation, you’ll never be left speechless. With that final word, class is hereby concluded.

Communications Degrees Online: A Comprehensive Analysis of the Considerable Advantages

Is there a way to do a free phone number trace? Yes, and it’s probably easier than you think. In this article I’m going to show you a tactic I have used to do a free phone number trace, and then will show you an alternative if the free method doesn’t work.

I was getting calls, sometimes two or three times a day, either very early in the morning or late at night. I usually was not around my cell phone during these times so I didn’t pick it up. But, then there were a few times where I did see the calls coming in, but the number looked completely foreign to me, even the area code was one I’d never seen before.

Article Marketing

I didn’t want to be hassled by a telemarketer or some stranger, so I ignored the calls hoping they’d go away. They didn’t.

So I found a way to do a free phone number trace. On a lark, I went online to the Google search engine and typed in the number. I could hardly believe what I got back as results. There were actual postings from a slew of other individuals who had received the same calls from the same number. They had dug up information and posted the name and address of the company that the calls were emanating from.

So, one simple Google search and I had a free phone number trace that gave me a ton of info on the incoming calls. Not surprisingly, soon after the calls ceased after someone probably took action on them.

Alternative Method:

What if your Google search doesn’t bring up any free phone number trace results? Then the next option is to go to a reverse phone lookup website service, and simply type in the number on their homepage and let them do the work. You’ll receive actual names and addresses plus more info on who exactly is calling you. This works great for calls from individuals like ex-boyfriend or girlfriends, annoying neighbors or enemies trying to crank call you, or even long lost friends and family who fail to leave messages for whatever reason.

  Free Phone Number Trace

Here is an excellent website where you can do a phone number trace and get back full information on who’s calling you and from where – http://TracePhone.info

It’s great to have a service you can use to screen your calls and erase the mystery of who is trying to call you. Check out – http://TracePhone.info

Often, unknown phone calls are usually a miscall or a wrong number. This is a simple mistake every one of us has made before. That being said, there are other reasons why people want to check up on an unknown telephone number before writing it off as a mistake.

Here is a list of possible reasons why people use reverse phone lookups to identify unknown callers.

Mobile Phones

Curiosity is the first and most popular reason. Often people simply want to know just who it is that has called.

Using reverse phone lookups to find addresses of friends and relatives is also a possible reason. Many people do this when sending out cards or invitations.

Pranks callers can be a genuine nuisance to any phone. Using reverse phone number search can help identify such prank callers.

Identifying harassing creditors and telemarketing calls can also be a reason to use a reverse search phone number lookup.

There are also those who use reverse phone call searches in order to check up on a cheating spouse.

Some people use reverse phone call search information to identify harassment calls in order to report them to the police.

Ultimately, identifying a phone number is a useful service, and can be accomplished through reverse phone number lookup website. Some sites not only let you obtain names and addresses, but also personal information such as criminal records, bank records, and many other public domain and even private information.

If you want to lookup a name from phone number right now, one popular place that also gives you access to court records is http://www.namefromnumber.com/.

The oil industry is booming right now, with many offshore oil rig jobs needed to crew the new drilling rigs. Top economists project the oil boom to last the next 14 to 20 years, which will likely lead to oil jobs outstripping financial and IT jobs. While many people are puzzled about how to get started, the truth is that if you are young, fit, hardworking and willing to get your hands dirty, you should have no trouble getting started.

If you do not have any experience, the best way to get started is to get a job on a land-based oil rig. You can get hired as a roustabout, basically a general laborer, work hard for 6 months and climb up the ladder to the position of roughneck. As a roughneck, you will still do a lot of manual labor, but you may also have a chance to supervise a few roustabouts and help out the more specialized positions like the derrickhands and drillers. Show the right attitude, work hard and you may find yourself promoted all the way up to driller (2nd highest rank on the oil rig) in 5 years.

Pay Per Click

A university degree is not very useful on board an oil rig. On the other hand, a useful technical certificate or diploma, for example as an electrician or mechanic, could land you a job in the motor room or electrical department. These are not the only useful trade skills on board an offshore oil rig. The rig crew need to eat, so a good cook is always welcome on board. A medic also plays a valuable part on the rig. Despite modern technology, an oil rig job is still a pretty hazardous place to work in. Accidents happen, and a medic always has work to do.

An important point to keep in mind is that an offshore oil rig is covered under maritime law. Hence, it is good if you take the trouble to get a basic working knowledge of how it will affect you. Besides this, there are vaccinations and skills certifications specific to where the oil rig is located. For example, in the UK you need to take an offshore survival and firefighting course. Different Canadian provinces have their own First Aid certifications. And different US states have their own requirements.

As you can see, there is no secret to getting started in offshore oil rig jobs. Just start small, on shore, from the bottom. Once you prove yourself, you can move to the more lucrative offshore drilling rigs.

Univera Life Sciences is a network marketing company that provides a variety of nutritional supplements and services. They have established themselves as a leading network marketing company, and are quickly becoming known for their business opportunity.

However, there have been some concerns about the Univera business opportunity. In this article, we will go through and give an unbiased review of the pros and cons of promoting a Univera business, and see if Univera is truly a great business opportunity…or a great scam.

Make Money Online

1. Univera – The Good

Univera was founded in 1998 by YunHo Lee, a Korean businessman that had long-suffered poor health. As the story goes, Mr. Lee tried all the tonics of conventional medicine with no results. One day, a friend gave him some juice from an Aloe vera plant, and made a “miraculous recovery”.

In fact, Univera is one part of the ECONET conglomerate, which consist of

Univera

    Unigen

    Aloecorp / Russia Biomass

    NatureTech

The flagship product for Univera is their AgelessXtra nutritional supplement. They are also have a well-structured compensation plan for their associates. As a network marketing business, you earn up to 15% on direct signups, and up to 5% on your downline, depending on what rank you achieve. They also have a 2% profit sharing program for distributors that reach a certain rank. They also have a BMW car program that allows their reps to bank an additional ,600 per month toward the payment of a BMW. Not too shabby.

2. Univera – The Bad

The Univera business opportunity looks really good at first sight; however, flags start to appear when we see their marketing plan. Like many network marketing businesses, Univera recommends that you grow your business with “relationship” marketing, i.e. selling product to friends, family members, and others that you know. Their program focuses on leveraging your “warm market” to grow your business which worked really well…50 years ago.

We live in a very different society today than we did in the 1950′s, when network marketing first got started. These days, most people do not have large warm markets, and even if they are large, most people do not like to be sold items from their friends and family members.

3. Univera – The Ugly

Another issue is the concept of marketing the business first, the product second. Like many compensation plans, Univera gives out the most generous bonuses for the recruitment of other associates, so form a distributors standpoint, they are compensated for finding distributors first, product-users second.

The problem comes when a new distributor (who is not making any money yet) approaches their warm market with a business opportunity to make money. There is a credibility issue that arises when someone who is making no money is telling other people how they can make a whole lot of money. Many network marketing companies try and resolve this issue with “3-way calling”, where the distributor calls their upline (who is supposedly making money) to talk to their prospect. Unfortunately, this only positions the distributor as a gopher instead of a legitimate business builder.

Growing a Univera business can be a great opportunity. They appear to have some good products, but there are plenty of companies that have great products, and many people that market great products never make a dime. There are also plenty of terrible products that generate millions of dollars in revenue (anyone remember the pet rock?) The difference is the marketer, and their ability to target their market effectively.

In closing, I would say that starting and developing a Univera business is lucrative if you know how to use the telephone, the Internet, and other effective marketing tools to grow your business. It is not a scam, but like any business, success will be determined by the skill-set of the marketer. Univera is definitely not a lottery ticket or a stock option – meaning, you do not just buy in and wait for a payout.

If someone does not have the first clue on how to market effectively, then I would suggest they either learn how to be an effective marketer, or else just use the Univera products as way increase personal health.

This article can be freely published on a website as long as it is not modified in any way including the author bylines and active hyperlinks.

Univera MLM Business – Opportunity Or Scam?

Joshua Fuson is a professional marketer, and has marketed dozens of different products and services. He has participated in the generation of over million dollars of revenue in network marketing in past 4 years alone.
