Succeeding in Internet Marketing – Internet Marketing Strategies That Work

So you have a website, and you want to get traffic to it?

This is a large topic area, and there are a whole wealth of strategies that are effective in getting a lot of traffic.

Internet Marketing

First Get Yourself A Niche!

Having tried many strategies, a large number work well, but the first thing you need to decide on your niche. I consider a niche to be a combination of what you do (services you provide etc) and the target market that purchase those services.

It seems that having a niche sharpens the focus, and makes the marketing strategies adopted all the more effective.

Get The Essential Tools

When you have an infrastructure of some key internet tools, then all of the promotion strategies I will outline below become viable. And you can begin to benefit from the leverage of your time, of repurposing of content and automation of admin tasks.

I believe anyone starting out to use the power of the internet to market needs an autoresponder. These are online services that store your prospects’ names & addresses, send out newsletters and deal with list administration.

I believe you need a survey service that automates the collection of research data – an essential first step in discovering what your prospects actually want. This needs to be affordable and easy to use.

You need a teleclass line provider with recording ability, and all the automation that is available today.

You need a way to build squeeze pages to link to your autoresponders quickly and easily.

Once all of those are in place, then all of the below strategies and more are feasible. So what strategies have I seen work well?

Internet Promotion Strategies That Work

Blogs usually get good traffic, especially if aimed at a niche, and if you consistently add useful content. I often add audio as well as text, and it’s only a short step from that to podcasting, of course. Blogs are inherently SEO friendly and getting inbound links from others helps hugely.

I’ve seen social media sites like Facebook used effectively – one of my teleclass interviewees filled her teleclass pretty much exclusively via Facebook – I was astounded. And twitter seems to build followers quickly.

Teleclasses themselves, of course, generate interest and sign-ups. They are excellent for both initial list building and deepening the relationship.

Articles generate traffic as long as they are of good quality, are numerous, and their resource box points to your website.

Also, I find that articles, teleclasses and blog entries can be repurposed into other media very easily.

eBooks and special reports work well, as do mini-courses (autoresponder-delivered), whether chargeable or free.

Good old-fashioned presentations are good, as long as you’re skilled in giving presentations, and have a good message to deliver.

Google Adwords, naturally, is one of the fastest ways to get traffic.

And short videos uploaded to Youtube and then embedded into your blog are an easy way to generate interest and traffic.

Summary

To succeed on the internet, you need three things. Firstly a niche – one that is narrow, clearly defined and makes the best use of your skills and knowledge. It also needs to be relevant to a hungry crowd in the marketplace.

Secondly you need the essential tools on which to build your promotion strategies. And lastly, you need the promotion strategies that work in today’s internet environment.
